Kayla Kendrick – Student Highlight

Kayla Kendrick is in her final module as a Medical Assisting student at East Ohio College. In just a few short weeks she will sit for her Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification exam to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant* and begin her career in the exciting medical field. The past 18 months have included a lot of hard work, studying, clinical externship hours, and dedication, but it will all be worth it when she is working in her dream career.

Kayla was not alone for the last 18 months. “I absolutely love this school. Not only am I receiving an outstanding education but I really feel like I’m part of a family. The educators from day one made me feel like I was in the right place. That means a lot when I’m currently not living near my family. Everyone has a smiling face and actually cares about you,” she said.

Before coming to East Ohio College, Kayla was working in a union position working with heavy equipment until she was laid off due to the Covid-19 pandemic. “To have a facility with the accreditation that East Ohio College does right in my backyard, it became a win-win situation. I decided to stay in the area and get my degree.”

After graduation, Kayla says that her ideal job would be “anything clinical where I get to reach out and help someone else. It could be in a doctor’s office, hospital, or nursing home. As long as my skills and attributes are used, that is an ideal space for me.”
