Jocelyn Pizzuti – Student Highlight

Meet Nursing Student Jocelyn Pizzuti!

Jocelyn Pizzuti - Student HighlightJocelyn Pizzuti is currently a student in the Nursing program here at East Ohio College. After graduating high school, Jocelyn enrolled in the Pharmacy program at Youngstown State University. She enjoyed her time at Youngstown State University but decided to switch her major to nursing and look for a program closer to home. Jocelyn switched to nursing because, after some sole searching, she wanted more of a hands-on career that would allow her to care for others and make a positive difference in people’s lives.

Jocelyn had always heard amazing things about East Ohio College and its Nursing program, so she applied and was accepted. With hard work and dedication, she excelled in the program and is very excited about graduating next month, becoming a registered nurse, and embarking on a new career. When asked what her favorite part of East Ohio College was, she stated, “It is definitely the instructors. They truly do care about your success throughout your journey, and they have always done everything possible to help and give you a great education.”

Jocelyn had a difficult time naming a favorite instructor because they all have been so amazing to her, and all of them have made her time at East Ohio College really special. However, she stated, “If I had to choose just one, it would have to be Mrs. Harris. She is an amazing instructor and clinical teacher. I really enjoyed my critical care rotation with her, and I feel like she really helped me start to understand how everything correlates when it comes to the patients. She made me feel very confident in my nursing abilities. Going hand in hand with that, my favorite class would have to be Critical Care. During this class, I realized that I had a very big passion for intensive care in the hospital setting. The material throughout the class was very interesting, and I enjoyed it greatly.”

When asked what her ideal job would be after graduation, Jocelyn stated that she would love to end up in an adult ICU or Pediatric ICU. She really enjoys the intensive care setting. She is currently completing her precepting hours on an intensive care floor, where she has really enjoyed herself and has learned a lot. Jocelyn has long-term goals as well. She plans on getting her master’s degree in nursing and working towards becoming either a Nurse Practitioner or a Nurse Anesthetist. She would also love the opportunity to be a nursing instructor someday. Jocelyn is very passionate about all things nursing and plans on taking her career path as far as she can.

In her off time, Jocelyn enjoys reading and helping at her church. When asked if she would recommend East Ohio College to friends, she answered, “Yes, I would definitely refer a friend to EOC. I have really enjoyed my time here and feel like everyone here has really been on my side throughout my nursing journey. The staff is amazing, and they really care about the students and their success.”
