Meet Clinical Medical Assistant Graduate Janel Strong

Janel Strong graduated from the Clinical Medical Assistant program on February 11th, 2024. Before enrolling at East Ohio College, Janel worked as a medical receptionist, specifically handling surgery scheduling for a digestive health specialty clinic. However, Janel desired to expand her role and directly impact patient care from a clinical perspective. This aspiration drove her decision to pursue an education that would enable her to perform more clinical tasks in her current job and better assist patients in need.

Upon graduating from East Ohio College, Janel envisions transitioning from her current role as a medical receptionist to working as a medical assistant in the digestive health specialty clinic. This shift would allow her to utilize her newfound clinical skills to assist patients directly, a cherished goal that would offer enhanced job satisfaction.

Looking ahead, Janel envisions her life in five years, continuing to thrive as a medical assistant. However, she also expresses an interest in returning to East Ohio College to pursue nursing—an ambition demonstrating her dedication to personal and professional growth. Enthralled by her experience at East Ohio College, Janel enthusiastically recommends the institution to others. She highlights the convenience of online classes, which fit seamlessly into any schedule, and emphasizes the supportive nature of the instructors who are always available to assist students, regardless of the time of day.

Outside of her educational pursuits, Janel finds joy and relaxation in various hobbies and interests. She relishes the peacefulness of gardening, finds solace in riding her horses, and channels her creativity through soap-making and crafting.
