Dental Assisting graduate, Cassidy Neeley, enrolled at East Ohio College straight from high school. Cassidy really wanted a school with small classes and a family-like environment with one-on-one opportunities within the classroom. After meeting with an admissions advisor and touring the campus, she quickly realized that East Ohio was the right fit for her.
Cassidy took a great interest in dentistry, teeth, and oral hygiene ever since she was little. As a child, she used to love going to the dentist for appointments. As she got older, she decided she wanted to pursue a career in the dental industry’s hygiene sector and recognized dental assisting as a great stepping stone for this career pathway. Upon graduating from East Ohio’s Dental Assisting program, Cassidy became a Nationally Registered Certified Dental Assistant and was placed as a Dental Assistant at Aspen Dental in Steubenville, OH. She looks forward to expanding her skills within her field and hopes to continue her education in dental hygiene within the next five years.
As a student, Cassidy was actively involved in campus and community events. She became a special part of the East Ohio family with her bubbly personality and her ability to make friends. Her favorite part of attending East Ohio was the family environment and “all the people I got to meet.” She built trusting and enduring relationships with her dental assisting classmates and found support in her instructors and staff. Cassidy has great respect for her Dental Assisting Program Director, Jamie Stine. She particularly enjoyed her Dental Terminology courses. Cassidy’s time at East Ohio significantly coincided with the explosion of the coronavirus pandemic across the globe. She had first-hand experience with East Ohio’s smooth transition to remote learning options and socially distanced lab experiences. This equipped her to be adaptable and persistent in her career.
When asked if she would refer people to East Ohio, Cassidy stated that she absolutely would because “it is a great school with caring teachers.” Cassidy exemplifies the potential success that can be achieved through hard work, dedication, a passion for learning and one’s vocation, and a passion for others.
