What is accreditation?
Accreditation is the process of an educational program being independently reviewed and evaluated by a third-party agency against industry standards. Colleges whose programs receive accreditation are determined to have met the set levels of academic standards. The students who attend these programs are learning the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their careers.
East Ohio College is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), which makes it eligible to award associate degrees and diplomas. Since 1969, the US Secretary of Education has recognized ABHES as an independent accrediting agency. East Ohio College is also approved by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools, which means that the institution complies with the standards set by the Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3332.
What does it mean for a college to be accredited?
East Ohio Online recognizes the benefits of attending an accredited institution and the importance of obtaining a high-quality education. Students use the skills learned in their education in their careers, so knowing that a program has been evaluated and approved by a third-party agency offers peace of mind that the courses are up to industry standards. Additionally, according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, students who attend accredited programs may only be eligible for some state and federal loans or grants.
What programs can students complete online?
At East Ohio Online, flexibility and balance are important factors for many students when choosing a program. Students who complete our Dental Assisting online program gain skills, including developing x-rays, mixing dental cement, and sterilizing and disinfection techniques. They may sit for the Nationally Registered Credentialed Dental Assistant (NRCDA)* certification exam.
Medical Billing/Administration is a great option for students looking for a behind-the-scenes career in the medical field. In two years or less, students will learn essential skills to succeed in an administrative role and be eligible to sit for the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist* and Certified Medical Administrative Assistant** certification exams.
