Stephanie Miller – Graduate Highlight

Prior to attending and graduating from East Ohio, Stephanie Miller was a certified Phlebotomist with significant experience working within the customer service industry as a Service Representative for Infocision, as well as a medical office professional at a local medical facility. She graduated from the Phlebotomy Training Center of Pittsburgh in 1995 and has had a great passion for the medical field since.

Stephanie’s decision to enroll in East Ohio College’s Medical Assisting and Medical Office Administration programs was fueled by recommendations from her friends who had previously attended. She was also interested in the programs’ fast track to completion and their close proximity to home. Inspired by her familiarity with the medical field, Stephanie chose her programs of study because she wanted to advance her career within the industry and because she knew her passion and skills aligned with both the clinical and office components of a medical office.

Her favorite part of her experience at East Ohio was the ability “to meet new people”. She continued, fondly reflecting on the memories she made during her time in school, “My classmates and teachers became my family”.  When asked who her favorite teacher was, Stephanie stated, “I do not have a favorite teacher. Although I could tell you that each one is unique and special”. She was happy to discuss her favorite class, however. “My favorite class was clinicals. This was where I saw the culmination of my prior classes and hard work coming together. I saw what I really learned as well as where I needed to improve for my degree.”

As a recent medical assisting graduate, Stephanie passed her national certification exam and became a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. Her main focus now is to finish her medical office training and sit for and pass her exam to become a Certified Billing and Coding Specialist. She feels her dual-degree and (hopefully) certifications will set her apart from other candidates and aid her in starting her career. “I would like to work in a family-oriented physician’s office or work from home doing medical billing and coding” and in five years, “I want to have achieved my career goal and be pursuing even more advanced ones!”

When asked if she would refer a friend to East Ohio, Stephanie says “Yes, of course! East Ohio will help you get where you want in life if you are willing to put in the work. The school is close and the staff is so nice! It’s a college that’s like a big family. All of the teachers are willing to go above and beyond their required job duties in order to help you achieve your goals. That’s the priceless thing about East Ohio.”
