East Ohio College has been serving the local community for over 100 years and has produced many graduates in nursing, business, and allied healthcare for local employers. Looking to the future, the organization has decided to enter the arena of online higher education to expand its reach. East Ohio online can now serve a much larger geography of students as location limitations are less of an issue.
East Ohio College successfully launched its first cohort of online Medical Assisting and Medical Billing/Administration students in January of 2022. In less than two years, students enrolled in this program will have an Associate of Applied Business degree, hands-on clinical experience, and all of the tools necessary to start their employment in the growing medical industry. In addition, students will also have a dedicated career management director from the college to assist them in writing resumes, interview preparation, professional development, and finding the perfect office or organization after graduation.
In the online Medical Billing/Administration program, students will study medical coding, electronic health records, scheduling, medical terminology, and patient information privacy protection laws. This will provide students with the vital skills and tools necessary to work in a doctor’s office, with insurance companies, communicate effectively with patients and caregivers, and successfully work with a healthcare team.
After finishing the online Medical Billing/Administration program, students will prepare for the Certified Billing and Coding Specialist certification* exam via the National Healthcareer Association. Combining this certification with the Associate of Applied Business in Medical Billing/Administration degree will empower East Ohio College graduates to find the best employment after graduation and stand out from the crowd.
