Online Medical Assisting Classes

There are many advantages to completing your medical assisting classes online. Online courses offer students added flexibility in managing school, work, family, and life more effectively.

The convenience of not having to commute to and from a campus every day can be time and cost-efficient. When you are a parent, enrolling in online classes can save on daycare costs and allow more time to spend with your children. Your children don’t stay young forever, so this extra time with them is priceless.

With online classes, you can focus on other family obligations, such as continuing to take care of an aging parent. You may be a student working and need to continue working during your studies. By taking medical assistant classes online, you are able to do so.

With East Ohio College, online medical assistant classes offer you the same information and knowledge you would receive in a classroom setting. Whether you attend classes online or on campus, we provide the same level of support and care.

Hands-On Clinical Days

Medical assistant students attending online courses receive hands-on training during in-person clinical days. Clinical days are an extremely valuable part of our degree programs, which students attend at our Irwin campus a few times during their course of study.

A medical assistant has to perform a particular set of tasks on the job, so having the opportunity to apply hands-on skills will help students succeed in their careers. Medical assisting students gain hands-on experience through their clinical days, including giving injections, performing phlebotomy, assisting with EKGs, taking vital signs, and assisting with exams.

In addition to completing online courses and engaging in clinical experiences, medical assistant students are also preparing for professional certifications from the National Healthcareer Association. By receiving a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification*, you can demonstrate your knowledge and skills to possible employers.

Two additional certifications students have the opportunity to sit for include the Certified EKG Technician** and Certified Phlebotomy Technician**. Obtaining these extra certifications indicates to potential employers that you possess specialized skills as a medical assistant. Students who complete the online medical assisting program are ready to work in hospitals, doctor’s offices, clinics, and more.
