PROGRAM OVERVIEW

East Ohio College’s online/hybrid Nursing program is based out of two locations in Ohio, Youngstown and East Liverpool. By the end of the program, students will be prepared to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)*.  In just 18 months, students earn their Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to become registered nurses.

The curriculum encompasses fundamental nursing skills, including foley catheterization, nasogastric (NG) tube insertion, IV administration, trauma care, medication administration, clinical decision-making, problem-solving, patient education, and more. Students enhance their understanding and build practical skills through hands-on labs held at the EOC campus and by completing clinical rotations at regional healthcare facilities.

ADMISSION AND GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

To begin the enrollment process, prospective students connect with an admissions team member during a virtual college visit to explore the program. Afterward, they schedule and take the TEAS exam. Once they meet the required scores in all sections, they progress by submitting their application to the Nursing program and participating in an academic interview. Throughout the process, an EOC admissions team member is there for you to provide guidance and support at every stage.

After being accepted into the program, a financial aid** appointment will be arranged by your admissions team member to review the total program cost and available funding opportunities, including grants^ and student loans. East Ohio College offers direct admission, meaning once students are accepted into the Nursing program, they will start nursing-related courses immediately. This direct admission approach saves valuable time and money by eliminating the need for general education prerequisites. This streamlined approach allows students to focus solely on their nursing education from day one.

To qualify for graduation, all required courses must be completed with a grade of “B” or better. If a course is completed with a grade lower than a “B,” the student will be dismissed from the program and will need to reapply for admission. Students must also satisfactorily complete all labs and clinical requirements, complete all ATI testing with a proficiency level of 2 or 3, and receive at least a 90% probability of passing the NCLEX-RN exam on the ATI Comprehensive Predictor

KEY FEATURES

One of the key benefits of East Ohio College’s online/hybrid Nursing program is that it offers some flexibility with how students schedule their time. Students can complete online lectures and assignments on their own schedule, making it easier to balance school, work, family, and other commitments.

Students are also required to participate in hands-on labs and clinical experiences. These opportunities enable them to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings. Labs and clinicals will be completed in person, in the evenings, and on weekends. Labs will be completed at the East Ohio College campus in East Liverpool, OH, and clinicals will be held at Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Youngstown, Boardman Hospitals, East Liverpool City Hospital, Trinity West, WVU Medicine Weirton Medical Center, or other regional healthcare facilities.

This program focuses on developing hands-on abilities and critical thinking skills, equipping students to thrive in various healthcare environments. Upon completion, graduates are well-prepared to play an active role in team-based patient care, offering both technical proficiency and thoughtful clinical judgment to enhance patient outcomes.
