Appreciating AI’s Role In Healthcare

Appreciating AI’s Role In Healthcare Thumbnail ImageJuly 16th is AI Appreciation Day, which marks an opportunity to acknowledge how artificial intelligence (AI) has helped the healthcare industry grow and improve patient outcomes. AI has become an integral part of many industries, and healthcare is no exception.

While AI continues to make remarkable advances, from administrative efficiency to diagnostic aid, one thing remains clear: AI greatly supports the medical field, but it does not replace the skills, compassion, and critical thinking that healthcare professionals bring to patients every day.

In this blog, East Ohio College (EOC) will explore the impact of artificial intelligence on the healthcare field, how to “AI-proof” your career, and how technology is working hand in hand to train the next generation of medical professionals. Keep reading to learn more about AI in healthcare!

How AI Is Improving Healthcare

Artificial intelligence helps healthcare facilities operate more efficiently across both patient-facing roles and administrative areas. Behind the scenes, AI can assist in streamlining tasks such as scheduling, appointment reminders, patient visit documentation, document processing, inventory management, and more. This extra aid helps reduce time spent on tedious tasks, allowing more time to be spent caring for patients.

Artificial intelligence also enables healthcare providers to analyze large volumes of data within minutes, helping identify subtle patterns and suggest diagnoses that might otherwise be overlooked. AI can also integrate medical research, patient history, and clinical data to help healthcare providers develop a comprehensive care plan tailored to the patient’s unique situation.

AI-powered software can also help monitor patient conditions through wearable technology. Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) is one way this idea is helping real patients report information to their healthcare providers. With RPM, AI can track faint changes in a patient’s condition without spending excessive time in a medical facility, giving medical teams the information and insight needed to respond quickly.

AI-Proof Healthcare Jobs

Despite technological advancements in the medical field, AI is only as effective as the professionals who use it. This is why trained healthcare professionals remain as essential as ever. Healthcare is built on trust, communication, and connection, all of which AI cannot replace.

Healthcare professionals must make quick, complex decisions by combining their knowledge, experience, critical thinking, and empathy. In addition to providing medical care, a significant part of their job is offering emotional care and comfort to patients in their time of need.

East Ohio College knows that technology will never replace the set of guiding hands that healthcare professionals provide to patients. That is why EOC is focused on providing the next generation of healthcare professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to provide excellent care, combined with technology training that prepares them for the future of healthcare.

EOC students get the best of both worlds in a combination of hands-on and virtual learning with online/hybrid training in nursing, online training with weekend hands-on clinicals in medical assisting and dental assisting, and online training in medical coding and medical office administration

Your Healthcare Journey Starts Here

The future of healthcare is about bringing together the compassion of human connection and advancing technology. AI may be able to process information faster than ever before, but it does not overpower the watchful eye and comforting touch of a healthcare professional. It cannot replace the reassurance a medical assistant gives before a procedure, the skilled hands of a nurse inserting an IV, or the chairside care of a dental assistant.

AI Appreciation Day allows us to celebrate the innovation artificial intelligence has brought to the medical community, but it is also a reminder that behind every breakthrough is a dedicated, skilled, and compassionate healthcare professional who puts technology to use for the patient’s benefit.

Technology may continue to change how healthcare is delivered, but the need for skilled and knowledgeable healthcare professionals will never cease. Now is the perfect time to start your journey toward a career you can be proud of. Get started on your path to a healthcare career at East Ohio College by requesting information.
